Camping has become popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, as it allows you to experience something out of the ordinary while being careful about infection, but winter camping in Hokkaido offers a different kind of fun than summer camping. Sounkyo Auto Campsite in Kamikawa Town, located at the gateway to Kurodake in the Daisetsu Mountain Range, has started trial operations for the winter season this year. Sounkyo Auto Campsite was renovated in 2020, and new facilities were added, including a relocation experience cottage, a cooking building, and a glamping area, transforming it into a "campsite where even outdoor beginners can easily enjoy nature." The Yukinko CAMP FES, a snow camping festival with a limited number of participants that even outdoor beginners can enjoy, will be held at Sounkyo Auto Campground for two days on March 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun) 2021.

In addition to live music, there will be food stalls and a market, snow activities such as snowshoe hikes, tent saunas, and firewood chopping, as well as food stalls and a bar where you can enjoy local craft beer and Kamikawa Taisetsu Sake Brewery alcohol.
