A Beautiful World Born from Extreme Cold: Toyokoro's Magical Jewelry Ice & More [Hokkaido Mirai Note (49)]
From the wonderful photos of Hokkaido taken and submitted by all of you, we will introduce three carefully selected posts again this time!
The Magical Jewelry Ice of Toyokoro Town
Jewelry ice can only be seen in the dead of winter.
This shot was taken in temperatures close to -20°C.
It was early in the season, but combined with the sea mist and the morning sun, it created a magical landscape.
Make sure to bundle up warmly before you go!

The beautiful morning sun, the ice colored by its light, and the sea mist rising from the water's surface create a truly magical scene!
This sea mist, known as *kearashi*, is said to occur when the difference between the water and air temperature is over 15°C, from early morning to mid-morning on a clear day.
This is a sight you can only see in that fleeting moment. We'd love to see it for ourselves, bundled up in our warmest clothes!
A Fox and a Cow in Koshimizu Town
I was just passing by and saw a cow, then noticed a fox nearby. I pulled over because it was such a rare pairing.

A cow and a fox coexisting and observing us—what a quintessential scene of the great northern land!
Did you know that Koshimizu Town is home to 5,900 cows, which is more than its human population?
Seeing these animals living resiliently, treading on the snow, is so heartwarming...!
Lake Toya and Frost-Covered Trees
It was a bitterly cold morning with large snowflakes falling. When the clouds cleared, an impressive scene of blue sky and frost-covered trees unfolded.
This is a photo that remains in my heart.

The harmony of the blue sky and lake with the white of the snow-covered trees and clouds makes for a refreshing photo that feels like it purifies your soul just by looking at it!
Lake Toya, framed by the trees, shines so beautifully!
The number of colors you see in Hokkaido decreases in winter, but the beautiful contrast of blue and white makes this season just as charming.
