This beautiful landscape, taken at the cape of Rebun Island, Japan's northernmost remote island, is a hot topic. The starry sky, which seems to draw you in, is a rare sight that can only be seen in environments with little streetlight or moonlight.

What you can see there is the Milky Way spreading across the sky! The photo was taken in September 2024, a few days after the new moon. When the moon is close to a new moon, there is less moonlight and the stars are clearer, creating a beautiful contrast with the cape.

The photo was posted by Kenichi, a resident of Toyama Prefecture. While traveling both domestically and internationally, he photographs scenes that he finds beautiful, mainly those of the Tateyama mountain range.
