This is the Bekanbeushi Wetlands, a marshland located in Akkeshi Town in eastern Hokkaido. A single railway track runs right through the middle of the wetlands, woven with green and water. This beautiful and nostalgic scene has garnered comments like, "So soothing," "I want to go here," and "It made me want to go on a trip."
The "Hanasaki Line" That Runs Through the Vast Wetlands
This track is part of the JR Hanasaki Line, one of the most popular railway routes in Japan. The Hanasaki Line is the nickname for the 135.4 km section of track that connects Kushiro and Nemuro, which is part of the JR Nemuro Main Line (Takikawa - Nemuro), Hokkaido's longest railway line.
The Bekanbeushi Wetlands, through which the Hanasaki Line runs, is a habitat for wild animals that can only be seen in Hokkaido, such as the red-crowned crane and the white-tailed eagle. When you ride the train, why not take your time to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the window?
