Beautiful as if lost in a picture book! Tokachi Ranch Birch Trees, with their neat rows of white trunks
It is a popular spot for tourists to encounter many photo-worthy sceneries, and one of the most recommended is the "Tokachi Ranch White Birch Row".
The romantic and fantastic sight is sure to enchant everyone!
As soon as you enter the road leading to Tokachi Ranch from Highway No. 133 (Oto-Shintoku line), you will see a row of white birch trees. Birch trees are a familiar sight in Hokkaido, and they stand in neat rows on both sides of the road for about 1.3 km, making it a breathtaking sight. It is as if you have wandered into a picture book world, giving you an extraordinary sensation.
At one time there were as many as 660 birch trees along the road, but many of them have outlived their useful lives, and a 10-year restoration project has been underway since 2014. The plan is to renew and plant the badly damaged birches. 277 trees have been cut down and 88 saplings have been planted (as of April 2021). (As of April 2021)
The final number of birch trees will be about 340-350. The beautiful landscape, which has been used as a filming location for movies and TV dramas, is carefully protected by human hands.
The pure white trunks of the white birches look beautiful in the fresh greenery of early summer and blend in with the snowy landscape in midwinter. This romantic landscape, which shows different expressions depending on the season, is definitely worth seeing.
