Sapporo City Hokkaido

On the table, there's a fork and a pair of slightly large scissors. Apparently, anyone from Hokkaido would see this and know exactly what's about to happen, but can you guess? This “Hokkaido thing” started from a single photo that went viral on social media. Here’s the surprising correct answer that many people got wrong.

Just a pair of scissors and a fork, and the people of the north know what's coming.

The photo shows just a clean fork and a pair of scissors that feel a bit large, placed on what looks like a dining table. The user Korin, who posted it, wrote, “The people of the north know what's coming.” In the social media comments, many people associated it with crab, saying things like, “The thing that makes you go silent,” “Scissors to conquer the thing with two claws,” and “It's hairy crab, isn't it?” But that's actually incorrect.

The correct answer was “Pizza from Rokkatei”!

Oyster and Wrinkled Spinach Pizza

The “Oyster and Wrinkled Spinach Pizza” that Korin actually ordered.

In fact, this photo was taken when ordering a pizza at the “Kissashitsu” (cafe) attached to some of the Rokkatei stores. The word “Rokkatei” written on the napkin was one of the clues.

A major feature when you order pizza at Rokkatei is that you are given scissors instead of a pizza cutter. The pizza served at Rokkatei's cafes is one of their popular menu items. By cutting it neatly with scissors, you can easily share it with friends and family.
