In late January 2026, a record-breaking snowfall hit the Sapporo area. With many tourists stranded at New Chitose Airport due to flight cancellations, the Sapporo Aquarium was launched.

AOAO SAPPORO in Tanukikoji, Sapporo, is inviting airport users to the aquarium for free!

AOAO SAPPORO Blue Room

AOAO SAPPORO, an urban aquarium directly connected to the Sapporo underground shopping mall, Pole Town, has announced a free invitation to passengers stranded at the airport! Those with air tickets departing from or arriving at New Chitose Airport or Okadama Airport on January 25th and 26th can enjoy free admission to the aquarium from January 26th to 31st.

There is also a coworking space in the building.

With many people unable to return home, the aquarium decided to implement this project at short notice, hoping to help people take home at least some happy memories of Sapporo and wondering if there was anything they could do. Please come and spend a heartwarming time admiring the adorable penguins and jellyfish at the indoor aquarium, directly connected to Chi-Ka-Ho.
