"While we can, we want to leave as much as we can behind." To the Nationwide Tour Starting in September

Melikret

Melikret 2nd Live Tour 2026 "Hakumei no Syrup" Key Visual

──And in September, your second nationwide tour of the year will kick off. What are your thoughts going into it?

Chipe: This tour has a set concept, and we want to make it more message-driven. Last time, the final show was in our hometown of Sapporo, but this time we'll start with a solo concert in Sapporo and end in Tokyo. Since we're kicking it off in our hometown, we're going in with a lot of energy, and we want to carry that momentum across the country. Music has its seasons, and we don't know how long we'll be able to make music or how long we can continue as a band together. That's why, while we can, we want to leave as much as we can behind in this world. We want to leave a mark, however small, in someone's heart—proof that we existed. That's also the reason we've been so active this past year.

Renir: I completely agree with what Chipe said. We had a long period of stagnation, so in some ways, this is a reaction to that. Time is finite, and we don't know when our activities might stop. As a band is a living thing, it's an unavoidable fate that it will one day cease to be. That's why we're thinking with all our might about what we can achieve through our music. On this tour, we want to show our growth. We want to deliver the best sound possible. That's all there is to it.

Toki: My feelings overlap a lot with theirs. Time is limited, so I want to leave something behind while we can. At the same time, I also feel like I want to do this forever, that life would be fun if I could always be making music. I hope to do everything I can without burning out.

Songwriting, Gigs, Performance: Changes Seen Amidst Accelerated Activity

──As Chipe mentioned, you've been incredibly active this year.

Renir: It's been more intense than last year. We've released an album, announced a tour, and we want to cherish our connection with our fans even more. In terms of songwriting, I want to further explore the meaning of having two members who compose. I want to be conscious of the chemical reaction that comes from co-writing and leverage our individual differences. While working hard to hold on to the connections we've made with our fans, I want to strengthen our identity as a band.

Chipe: As a band, I want to increase our number of songs. We used to have a style of taking our time to write, but as we've played more live shows, the need for more songs has grown. We're actually a band with a surprisingly long history, and our approach used to be to create at our own slow pace. But after experiencing various live shows, I've started to want more and different kinds of songs. Songs that get everyone more excited at a show, or warm songs that allow for a moment of calm. I hope we can give form to the songs we feel are necessary as we continue our activities. My perspective has changed after this past year of activity.

Toki: I've been inspired by other regions and have become more conscious of creating a performance that captivates the audience. Stepping outside of Sapporo and seeing shows by various bands, I've been stimulated by bassists who have flashier performances or are more engaging. I'm in the process of evolving by adding my own elements, so I hope you'll pay attention to that.

To JOIN ALIVE, and Beyond

Melikret

──Finally, do you have a message for our readers?

Renir: As a band from Hokkaido, we'll continue to do our best. Our performance, our sound, our new songs—we want to deliver the absolute best with all our energy. We'll be performing new songs on the tour. We really want you to pay close attention to JOIN ALIVE as well. We ourselves have no idea what's going to happen next.

Chipe: We've been running full-speed as a team for the past year. I hope to properly capture the things I've felt and the thoughts that have been swirling in my mind through our songs. I want to convey those feelings on stage at JOIN ALIVE and on our tour.

Toki: My desire is to deliver better performances and better music. In addition to that, since I don't have experience in songwriting, I want to build up a sense of trust so that the others feel they can just say, "Let's leave the bass to Toki!" I hope I can be a force in increasing our number of new songs to take on tour. It would be great if we could show a completely new side of us.

Melikret

Melikret

A four-piece, mixed-gender pop-rock band based in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Formed in September 2019 within a university light music club. The members are Chipe (vocals & guitar), Renir (guitar), Toki (bass), and Meg (drums). They are actively performing under the concept, "For the days when tears fall, we offer an inverted indigo umbrella." With lyrical scenes woven from Renir's world-weary poetry, a wide range of music that transcends genres, and Chipe's powerful yet ephemeral vocals, they create a unique worldview.
