Takino Suzuran Hillside Park, the only national park in Hokkaido, boasts an area of 400 hectares. The park is divided into various areas, each with different attractions depending on the season. Here, we will introduce the areas you should visit in the fall! The first place you should visit is the central zone, which can be reached through the Central Gate. Among these, the "Flower Makiba" area in the Country Garden is a place where various flowers bloom depending on the season and can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders. When we visited for our coverage (mid-October 2021), the kochia were beautifully colored. There are a whopping 6,000 photogenic kochia plants! Furthermore, the autumn leaves were beautifully changing in the "Water Plaza" of the Country Garden. The combination of flowing water and autumn leaves is soothing and relaxing to look at. Next we will introduce the Takino Forest Zone. In Takino Suzuran Hillside Park, there are parking lots close to each destination, and if you show your receipt for the day, you can move between the parking lots for free that day, so don't forget to show it! The Mori no Koryukan is just a few minutes' walk from the South Parking Lot in the Takino Forest Zone. It's a good idea to stop by here first and get any information you need, such as a map. The Mori no Koryukan is so huge that it's hard to imagine it from the entrance on the parking lot side, and next to it is a maze-like tree house. As I walked out of the Community Center, the ground beneath my feet was covered with a colorful carpet of fallen leaves, the perfect color for autumn. If you want to enjoy autumn scenery, we recommend you visit Morimi Tower. You will walk through the forest, but the path is well-maintained for easy walking, so you can wear your regular shoes. After a pleasant walk and forest bathing, you will arrive at Morimi Tower! The tower has a very quaint exterior. If you go up, you can get a panoramic view of the forest surrounding Takino. The view is truly breathtaking. The autumn leaves below create a stunning contrast with the blue sky above. Looking out into the distance from a high vantage point, it's as if all the little things of everyday life just fly away. From Morimi Tower you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view, so try changing the angle and taking your time to enjoy the slightly different views.
