In Tomakomai city, you can fish for smelt in parts of Nishiki-Oonuma. You can enjoy fishing for smelt for free while enjoying the view of Mt. Tarumae.

・The manager will be patrolling the grounds wearing an armband, so please feel free to speak to him.
・We do not rent fishing equipment. Please bring your own.
Ice drills are available for rental at the Nishiki Onuma Management Office, so please feel free to ask the manager.
・Even during the opening period, smelt fishing may be canceled if it is deemed dangerous due to bad weather or other reasons.
・Please read the "Smelt Fishing Rules" and enjoy the fishing while following the rules.

■ Rules for smelt fishing
Nishiki Onuma Park has established fishing rules for safety. Please enjoy smelt fishing safely by following the rules below.
1. Do not enter any area other than the designated area.
2. The holes in the ice should be no more than 15cm in diameter and should be spaced at least 1m apart.
3. Please take home any trash, empty cans, cigarette butts, fishing gear, etc.
4. If using fire, be sure to use a stove or other type of fire on a stand or board (which are available for rental) (do not place directly on the ice).
5. Baiting and the use of tents are prohibited.
6. If you are bringing children, please keep an eye on them at all times to prevent accidents.
7. If the area is deemed dangerous due to bad weather or other reasons, it may be closed, so please follow the instructions of the manager.
8. Anyone who violates the rules or does not follow the instructions of the manager may be asked to leave.
9. Please follow any other instructions given by the manager. The manager also patrols the premises from time to time, so please feel free to ask him if you have any questions or concerns.
