"Mansai Nomura Kyogen Performance" will be held to commemorate the renovation of the Sapporo Municipal Education and Culture Center! This is the first performance in Hokkaido of the new Kyogen play "Ayu (sweetfish)," a new Kyogen play by writer Natsuki Ikezawa, who rewrote his own short story "Ayu" into a Kyogen script, and Mansai Nomura will direct the performance.
Also not to be missed is "MANSAI Bolero," a gem of a solo dance that crystallizes Ravel's masterpiece "Bolero" and the ideas and techniques of Kyogen with "Sanbaso" as its core.

Profile of Mansai Nomura
Born in 1966. He studied under his grandfather, the late Manzo Nomura VI, and his father, Mansaku Nomura. He made his stage debut at the age of 3. Graduated from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. He is the leader of Kyogen Gozaru Noza. He has participated in numerous Kyogen and Noh performances in Japan and abroad, and has contributed to the popularization of Kyogen and Noh, as well as starring in contemporary plays, films, and TV dramas. In 2011, he directed the national co-production of the opera "Die Fledermaus" and served as the general director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the national cultural festival "Ishikawa Hyakumangoku Cultural Festival 2023" held in Ishikawa Prefecture. In 1994, he was awarded the Artists-in-Residence Program by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and in 1995, he was awarded the Art Festival Newcomer's Award and Excellence Award. In 2006, he received the Mainichi Art Award's Koreya Senda Prize for "Meridian No Jiri", a play he directed and starred in. In 2009, he won the Kanze Hisao Memorial Hosei University Nohgaku Award, and in 2010, the Matsuo Performing Arts Award Grand Prize.
He served as Artistic Director of Setagaya Public Theatre from 2002 to March 2022. He was a visiting professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
