"Chitose Lake Shikotsu Hyobaku Festival" is an ice festival that takes advantage of the frigid climate of Lake Shikotsu. Water from Lake Shikotsu, one of the clearest lakes in Japan, is sprayed onto the framework of the lake using sprinklers to create ice sculptures of various sizes. The ice sculptures glow a natural blue color during the day and are illuminated by colorful lights at night, creating a fantastic world. The inns around Lake Shikotsu are known for their high quality hot springs, so it is recommended to stay overnight and enjoy the festival in a relaxed atmosphere. Under the concept of "Ice Museum," simple ice sculptures will be exhibited for visitors to enjoy their beauty.
