The title of the exhibition is symbolized by a black and white square.
The meaning is "black and white." Putting it into words would be a straightforward expression, but by expressing it as a symbol, I tried to approach the idea of looking at the colors black and white more clearly through the picture.

I first started painting monochrome when I was a university student. At the time, I was creating lithograph prints with whales as the main subject. Nowadays, I not only draw whales, but also plants and animals on paper using drawing materials. I use an oil-based dermatograph and pencils sold by Mitsubishi, and draw on Kent paper.

I have been exploring monochrome expression since my student days, and I feel that the color black has elegance and a stubbornness that makes a strong statement, while white, on the other hand, has a purity and cleanliness to it.

However, I have always had the habit of thinking broadly that what I feel may be different for different people, and I think that the way we interpret colors should be more free. Sometimes I want to give colors different meanings, such as black being gentle, or white being imbued with a sense of madness.

I have continued to create works up to this day, looking at these monochrome colors from a bird's-eye view.
I hope you can feel the richness of the black and white colors.
