Tragicomic Concert (Non-comic Concert) ~Connecting literature and everyday life with humor
Date and Time
2025/12/28
Start time: 15:00 (approximately 2 hours)
Ants Fujinaga, originally from Florence and currently living in San Francisco, will be visiting Sapporo for a concert!
He humorously expresses a moment from everyday life through his own compositions, sung to the clear sound of the ukulele, played in a style reminiscent of period instruments.
The lyrics casually incorporate many famous quotes from European literature, and the nuances of their expressions are exquisite.
(A wide range of works will be featured, including Shakespeare, of course, but also Robert Burns (the Scottish poet who wrote the lyrics to Auld Langsyne, the original song of Auld Langsyne), Robert Frost (the American poet famous for works such as Road Not Taken, and a favorite of Empress Michiko), and Dante.)
A must-listen for anyone interested in English literature and European literature in general!
Each song is accompanied by commentary and interpretation, and the performance is fun and light-hearted.
It's okay if you don't understand much English or aren't familiar with literature.
It is also recommended for those interested in European folk music, such as Celtic, Balkan, and Renaissance music.
