Ryoko Nagara's "Hokkoku Yurayura Kikou," currently being serialized to popular acclaim in Shogakukan's monthly manga magazine "Gessan." An exhibition of the work will be held in the town of Yakumo, which the protagonists visit in the latest Volume 2.
Set in Hokkaido, "Hokkoku Yurayura Kikou" is a story about the protagonist, Tsukiko, who is a bit shy and has become unemployed. Along with her friend Chitose, a freelancer chasing her dreams, and their share house companions, she re-examines her life in a relaxed, "wandering" way through travel and daily life. In the latest Volume 2, the protagonists discover a "wood-carved bear" sleeping in the back of their share house. They visit the town of Yakumo to search for its roots.
Please come and experience the familiar scenery shining as a story in this place, the setting of the tale, with the landscapes of Yakumo drawn by Ms. Ryoko Nagara, the various spots the characters actually visit, and the delicately depicted wood-carved bears.
