The Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness: A Place to Remember
The moving final scene in the classic film "The Yellow Handkerchief of Happiness" (directed by Yoji Yamada), released in 1977 and winner of numerous domestic film awards including the Best Picture Award at the first Japan Academy Prize, in which the main character Yusaku Shima, played by Ken Takakura, and his wife Mitsue (Chieko Baisho) are reunited This is the location of the filming.
Countless yellow handkerchiefs fluttering in the wind are an unchanged symbol of happiness and bliss. Even if you have never seen the movie, the warmth enveloping the plaza and the leisurely flow of time will make you feel nostalgic.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the movie's release, the facility has been completely renovated. It has been reborn as a sanctuary where people of all ages can think and feel "true happiness and happiness.
