Honbetsu Town History Folklore Museum
Honbetsu Town's history-telling museum.
Materials, etc., concerning the state of Honbetsu Town's pioneering, and at the time of the Pacific War, the Military Horse Replenishment Department Tokachi Branch that was in Senmiri, Honbetsu Town, are displayed.
This Military Horse Replenishment Department has a history where Takeichi Nishi, known as "Baron Nishi," who won a gold medal in the equestrian show jumping event at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics, worked, and also displays the mane and charms, etc., of his beloved horse "Uranus," which Nishi is said to have been wearing when he died in battle on Iwo Jima.
