"Maruyama," located on the north side of Churui town, has an elevation of approximately 300 meters.
There is a legend that pirates hid treasure and gold dust around the Bakumatsu period, and it is a romantic spot still enveloped in mystery.
On the mountaintop, which can be reached in about 5 minutes by car from the entrance, an observation deck is placed, and below your eyes, you can view the townscape of Churui and rural scenery, and also the distant Hidaka mountain range and even the Pacific Ocean.
That magnificent scenery is truly Hokkaido itself. It is a space that might make you sigh unintentionally.
