Fishway Observation Room and Torodo
Chiyoda Shinsuji Channel, which is designed to safely carry the flow of the Tokachi River downstream, has two fishway facilities.
The "stairway fishway," which allows visitors to observe fish swimming through glass windows, is designed for medium to large-sized fish such as salmon and trout.
The fishway observation room "Toro-Road" allows visitors to feel like they are diving in the river and observe the ecology of fish, such as the Ugui, which are characterized by their silver scales, salmon that come up to the Tokachi River around the end of August, and pink salmon with spots on their tail fins.
