Bloomington is the birthplace of gateball.
A bust of Kazunobu Suzuki, the founder of gateball, is installed in the "Health Plaza," where visitors can enjoy gateball, and many valuable materials related to the invention of gateball, such as his letters and the sticks he used for the invention, are displayed in the reference room.

It is a matter of pride that gateball, an international sport, originated in the town of Brimuro, and in March 2006, it was recognized as a "Brimuro Heritage" as a Brimuro treasure to be passed down to future generations, in recognition of the wonderful philosophy of the game that can be enjoyed by all ages.
