Memuro Town is the birthplace of gateball.
In the "Health Plaza" where gateball can be enjoyed, a bust of Mr. Kazunobu Suzuki, the founder of gateball, is installed, and in the reference room, many valuable materials such as his letters related to the devising of gateball and sticks used in its devising are displayed.

The fact that gateball, an international sport, originated in Memuro Town is a matter of pride, and its wonderful game philosophy of being enjoyable regardless of age was evaluated, and it was certified as "Memuro Heritage" in March, Heisei 18 (2006), as a treasure of Memuro that we want to leave for future generations.
