Kutoyama trail
It is about 2.5 km to the top. If the weather is fine, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Nayoro city and the magnificent nature of Nayoro.
Mt. Kudo is a 673.6-meter-high mountain that can be seen from Nayoro City. Its name comes from the Ainu word "Kutunnupuri" (a mountain with rock cliffs). Also known as "Chinomisiri" (mountain we worship), its asymmetrical mountain ridge and rocky ridge on the summit were the object of daily prayer for the indigenous Ainu people, and it was also an important landmark mountain for hunting.
Today, as a mountain with a ski resort, Pyashiris, it is used by many citizens throughout the four seasons for winter sports and nature exploration using the mountain trails.
For these reasons, the summit of Mt. Kutoyama was designated as a scenic spot for the purpose of protecting a group of excellent scenic spots, collectively called "pirikanoka" (beautiful form), which are colored by Ainu stories, folklore, prayer sites, and words.
