Ruins of Woshamanbe Camp
The Woshamanbe Camp was established in 1856 by the Nanbu Clan under the orders of the Edo Shogunate as the Woshamanbe sub-camp of the Nanbu Muroran Camp for the purpose of guarding the Ezo region. The moat and earthen mounds from those days still remain, and it was designated as a national cultural asset in 1974 as the only modern historical site in the neighboring area.
