SPOT
Oshamanbe Park
Completed in 1973, Oshamanbe Park is a vast park equipped with a campground, a pond, playground equipment, etc. (It has been certified as a comprehensive urban park since January 2012.)
In spring, when the new greenery emerges, cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom in full glory, and in summer, the pond surrounded by natural stones is filled with beautiful water lilies and irises, adding color to the waterside. The nearby Tomino Forest has a wonderful view and is a great place to enjoy forest bathing. The walking trail is also well-maintained and highly regarded within Hokkaido.
In addition to playground equipment and sports facilities such as tennis courts, there are also bungalows with toilets and sinks, and a large parking lot, making it an ideal place to take a break from driving or for camping during a tour.
During the peak season from early to mid-August, many campers enjoy the summer nights in Oshamanbe every year. Some groups come from outside Hokkaido almost every year, staying for multiple nights while enjoying the nature of Oshamanbe, and it has become established as a base for camping in southern Hokkaido.
