SPOT
Choumanbe Park
Completed in 1973, Choumanbe Park is a vast park with campgrounds, ponds, playground equipment, etc. on a large site. (It has been recognized as a comprehensive urban park since January 2012.)
Cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom in spring when the trees are fresh green, and beautiful water lilies and irises add color to the waterfront in summer in the pond surrounded by natural stones. Adjacent to the park is the "Tomino Forest," a walking path with a wonderful view that allows visitors to take a walk in the forest. The promenade is also well maintained and highly rated within the province.
Bungalows with toilets and sinks are available, and a large parking lot is also available, making it ideal for taking a break from driving or camping while touring.
During the peak season in early to mid-August, many campers enjoy the summer nights in Choumanbe every year. Some groups come from outside of Hokkaido every year and stay for consecutive nights while getting to know the nature of Chomannbe, making it a well-established base for camping in southern Hokkaido.
