Oshamambe Town is located at the northernmost tip of the Oshima Subprefecture. It has long prospered as a key transportation hub, and the town has been shaped by the constant flow of people and culture.
The town's main industries are fisheries, centered on scallop farming, and agriculture, primarily dairy farming, with development focused on primary industries.
Additionally, it is situated at the midpoint between Sapporo and Hakodate. A Shinkansen station is scheduled to open in 2030, and ahead of the opening of the Hokkaido Shinkansen Oshamambe Station, the town is promoting community development to adapt to the new era.
