SPOT
Enzan Observatory
Located on a small hill at the foot of Mt. Iwanai, the observatory offers a panoramic view of the city of Iwanai and the Shakotan Peninsula, making it a popular spot to enjoy the night view to your heart's content. The Iwanai night view was recognized as a "Japan Night View Heritage" in 2018. As a new recreational spot where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city of Iwanai and the Shakotan Peninsula, it is popular among families for excursions and picnics. Facilities such as a plaza and a promenade around the 33 statues of the Kannon (Goddess of Mercy) are also available near the observatory. The mountain and sea change their colors from morning, noon, evening, and season to season, and a large telescope is available free of charge.
The panoramic view from the foot of Mt. The contrast between the Shakotan Peninsula and the Japan Sea at the end of the seven-colored sky, not to mention the red and blue, makes for a wonderful location. Half an hour after sunset, the sky turns reddish purple. A tripod on your camera will help you take good pictures.
