SPOT
Mikasa Railway Memorial Hall (Mikasa Railway Village, Horonai Zone)
The high whistle of the train paved the way for the northern wilderness. The nostalgic heroic figure comes back to life today.
Mikasa Railway Village opened in 1987 to preserve the historical heritage and culture of the birthplace of the Hokkaido Railway (the first railroad in Hokkaido opened between Horonai and Otaru-Temiya in 1882).
The village also exhibits a real steam locomotive "S-304" and a mini Shinkansen, as well as a variety of vehicles that were used in various parts of Hokkaido in the past.
On the second floor, visitors can look back on the history of the Horonai Line and Hokkaido's railroads with a video. The second floor also features a video that looks back on the history of the Horonai Line and Hokkaido's railroads.
