SPOT
Takushinkan
Overview
This photography gallery opened in 1987 when landscape photographer Shinzo Maeda renovated the former Chiyoda Elementary School, which had been closed down. The gallery exhibits a large number of works focusing on the landscapes of Biei. Through the Takushinkan, the gallery is widely communicating the wonders of Biei-cho to people who love photography and nature, both in Japan and abroad. On the premises, visitors can enjoy a corridor of white birches and lavender fields planted by Mr. Shinzo Maeda in cooperation with the town of Biei as a photo spot.
