Biei Jinja Shrine
Overview
The township shrine is known as a power spot. Noteworthy are the heart-like decorations scattered throughout the shrine pavilions. This decoration is a traditional shape said to have existed since the Yayoi period. It has been used in shrines and temples since ancient times as a symbol of good luck.
The Nachi-Biei Fire Festival is held every year on July 24 as a ceremony to pray for the calm of Tokachi-dake.
