SPOT
Lake Chobushi Campsite
This lake is located about 4km southwest of Otsu city and has a circumference of about 5km. It is a brackish lake that mixes with seawater, and is separated from the Pacific Ocean by a narrow sand dune.
The plant community around the lake's sand dunes has been designated a natural monument of Hokkaido, and from spring to early autumn beautiful flowers such as rose rose, day lily, Japanese laurel, and bush clover bloom in full force.
We also recommend camping while looking out at the Pacific Ocean. Bungalows are also available. The best time to visit is from late July to mid-August every year, when the area is bustling with tourists.
