Asahikawa Airport is located almost in the center of Hokkaido, and is Northern Hokkaido's sky's gateway, which 1.1 million people use annually. While being in one of the nation's leading snow-covered areas, by a thorough snow removal system, it boasts a high flight operation rate such as 99.7%. As for Fiscal Year 2019, in addition to connecting three domestic cities (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka), it also operates international regular flights (Taipei). By the opening of the International Terminal, while aiming for the strengthening of the acceptance system of foreign tourists, the airport terminal underwent an entire renewal.

In September 2019, "Soraichi" opened. A food court where local gourmet food such as Asahikawa Ramen and others can be enjoyed, and event spaces and others were installed, and it was reborn as a base which transmits the various charms of the Northern Hokkaido region.
