Asahikawa Airport, in the heart of Hokkaido
Asahikawa Airport is located almost in the center of Hokkaido and is the air gateway to northern Hokkaido with 1.1 million passengers annually. Although located in one of the snowiest areas in Japan, the airport boasts a high service rate of 99.7% thanks to a thorough snow removal system. 2019 fiscal year, the airport operates regular international flights (Taipei) as well as connecting three domestic cities (Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka). With the opening of the international terminal, the airport terminal has been completely renovated in addition to strengthening the reception system for international visitors.
In September 2019, Soraichi will open. With a food court where visitors can enjoy Asahikawa ramen and other local delicacies, an event space, and other facilities, it has been reborn as a base to promote the various attractions of the northern Hokkaido region.
