The Otaru Triangle Market was named because its land and roof are in the shape of a triangle. Around Showa 23 (1948), 7 to 8 street vendors set up shops in front of Otaru Station, which was the beginning. After that, stallholders followed one after another, and from nearby regions like the Ishikari region and Shiribeshi region, and even from far-off regions like the Kamikawa region and Hidaka region, it showed liveliness with not only visitors but also people coming to shop, and developed as a morning market.

With "Exactly Cheap!!" as its motto, shops are lined up on both sides, with an aisle in between, along a narrow sloping road about 200 meters in total length and about 2 meters wide, with 16 stores. Among markets located within Otaru city, it is the only one open every day, so you can feel at ease whenever you come.

Not only seafood like crab, sea urchin, scallops, and fish, but also vegetables, fruits, and daily necessities can be bought, so it is very convenient for everyday shopping and when choosing souvenirs.
