Otaru Triangle Market was named after the triangular shape of the land and roof. It started around 1948 when 7-8 street vendors opened in front of Otaru Station. After that, more and more vendors opened, and the market developed into a morning market, bustling with not only visitors but also shoppers from the nearby Ishikari and Shiribeshi regions, and as far away as Kamikawa and Hidaka regions.

With the motto of "Straightforwardly cheap!!," 16 stores are lined up on either side of a narrow, 200-meter-long, 2-meter-wide slope. It is the only market in Otaru that is open every day, so you can come any time.

You can buy seafood such as crabs, sea urchins, scallops, and fish, as well as vegetables, fruits, and daily necessities, making it very convenient for everyday shopping and choosing souvenirs. The shopkeepers on both sides of the market cheerfully call out to you, making you feel like you're in a market, and bargaining with the unique shopkeepers is also a fun experience that only a market can offer.

There are six restaurants where you can enjoy meals from 7am to 5pm! Each restaurant offers rice bowls made with fresh seafood and daily set meals made with seasonal ingredients, and you can even have the products you buy at the market cooked on the spot to create your own original rice bowl!
