Red Brick Office (Former Hokkaido Government Office Building)

In July 2025, Sapporo's symbol, the 'Red Brick Office,' will be renewed. In addition to exhibitions where visitors can learn about history and Ainu culture, there will be a new ISHIYA shop and restaurant, as well as hands-on exhibits showcasing the charms of various regions in Hokkaido. A highlight is the viewing of the 'Octagonal Tower,' which is a symbol of the building. It is a new tourist hub connecting Hokkaido's past and future.

This historic brick building is appealing because, despite being located in the city center, about a 5-minute walk from Sapporo Station, visitors can experience the four seasons in its beautiful garden. It is a spot that makes you want to visit again and again, showing different expressions each season with cherry blossoms and lilacs in spring, lush greenery and rugosa roses in summer, and autumn leaves in fall. It is also characterized by its popularity among citizens as a photo spot.
