Hokkaido Ainu General Ainu Center
Promoting a deeper understanding of the Ainu people and the transmission and preservation of their culture
The Hokkaido Ainu General Ainu Center was established to promote a deeper understanding of the history of the Ainu people and the transmission and preservation of their culture. The Hokkaido Ainu Association, an organization of Ainu people living in Hokkaido, is the designated manager. The center has an exhibition room, a library and information resource room, and a conservation training room, where visitors can learn about the history of the Ainu people, their daily tools, and books and other materials. There is also a corner where visitors can watch easy-to-understand videos on the activities of the Ainu Association and recent developments of the Ainu people. Depending on the purpose of your visit, you can ask a curator or staff member for an explanation, and the museum serves as a guide to understanding the Ainu people.
