When you look out to the west from Sapporo's North 3-jo Street, the Hokkaido Government Old Main Building appears in a majestic form at the end of the street. The brick-built building known by the nickname "Red Brick Government Building" is a historic building that has borne the Hokkaido government administration for approximately 80 years until the new government building currently in use was completed. It is an American-style Neo-Baroque architecture built in 1888 (Meiji 21), and with distorted glass made in the Meiji era, etc., it feels as if one has time-slipped.
　
The interior of the building is generally open to the public for free, and materials tracing Hokkaido's history are also exhibited. Nearby gourmet spots that you want to enjoy after a stroll are also a must-check.

While being in the city center, being able to feel the four seasons in its beautiful garden is its charm. In spring, cherry blossoms and lilacs, in summer, lush greenery and rugosa roses, in autumn, autumn leaves, and a spot that shows different expressions each season is a place that makes you want to visit many times. Its characteristic is that it is highly popular also among citizens as a photo spot.
