Akkeshi Ocean View Terrace
Akkeshi is "a town of flowers, tastes, and history," and its gateway is "Akkeshi Bōyōdai."
The total length of National Route 44 between Kushiro and Nemuro is 123km, and previously, there were neither parking lots nor toilets in this section, causing inconvenience to drivers. Therefore, the town completed an observation deck and a parking lot in Showa 54 (1979) at this place with a beautiful coastal view, which can be called the face of the town.
At the colorful observation deck, a space where more than 50 vehicles such as buses and passenger cars can park and a toilet were installed, and while gaining popularity among drivers, it is also helping to prevent accidents due to fatigue.
The view from Bōyōdai overlooks the wide Akkeshi Bay, and on sunny days, one can view Shiriha Cape, Daikokujima Island, and Aikappu Cape at the entrance of Akkeshi Bay, and also view the entire panorama of Akkeshi Great Bridge and Akkeshi town area.
