Akkeshi Moyodai

Akkeshi Moyodai is the entrance to the "City of Flowers, Taste and History" in Atsugishi.
The total length of National Route 44 between Kushiro and Nemuro is 123 km, and there used to be no parking lots or restrooms along the route, causing inconvenience to drivers. In 1979, the town built an observatory and a parking lot at this spot with a beautiful view of the coast, which can be said to be the face of the town.
The colorful observatory with parking space for more than 50 buses and passenger cars, as well as restrooms, has been well received by drivers and helps prevent accidents caused by overwork.
The view from the watchtower overlooks the wide expanse of Atsugishi-Bay, and on a clear day, one can see Cape Shiriba, Daikoku Island, and Cape Aikan at the mouth of Atsugishi-Bay, and a panoramic view of the Atsugishi-Ohashi Bridge and the city of Atsugishi-City.
