Graves of Aizu Clan Members (Tanefumi)
In 1807, during the Bunka Era, the Russian fleet attacked Rishiri, which was under the control of the Shogunate. The Shogunate immediately ordered the Aizu Clan to guard the northern part of the island, and the Aizu Clan dispatched about 250 fighters, but there was no direct armed conflict with the Russians. However, due to the harsh natural environment of Rishiri at the time and the lack of food, several clan members ended up burying their bones here. On Rishiri Island, there are three graves in Tane-tomi-cho, Kutsugata-aza, Sakae-cho, Oshidomari-aza, and Hondomari-aza. The two who lie in the graves in the Tane-tomi Parking Park died on the ship on the way back from the Karafuto patrol.
There is a public restroom in Tanefumi Parking Park.
