Otaru Art Village, in each of the four buildings constructed in the first half of the 20th century when Otaru was boasting prosperity, exhibits and opens to the public excellent artworks and craftworks from Japan and the world that have splendidly adorned that era. By having more people see, it aims to be a place fostering rich feelings and hearts that are moved, and transmitting the splendor of culture・art to the world.

Approximately 100 pieces of stained glass by traditional techniques, produced in England approximately 100 years ago and actually decorating church windows, can be viewed. Please enjoy the beautiful and majestic space of light.

＜Former Mitsui Bank Otaru Branch＞
A building with an impressive classical exterior of stone masonry. Please enjoy the sturdy bank architecture with profound designs, and the beautiful plaster-decorated ceilings and marble counters, and the bank architecture reminiscent of the prosperity of Northern Japan's foremost economic city.

We are exhibiting a collection where diverse domestic and international art, such as Japanese-style paintings, Western-style paintings, sculptures, and prints by Yokoyama Taikan, Fujita Tsuguharu, Takamura Koun, and others, can be enjoyed at once.
