The "SNOW MIKU 2024" festival, starring "Snow Miku (Hatsune Miku)," the character who cheers for Hokkaido, is being held again this year! Centered around Sapporo and Otaru, the festival features a variety of attractions, including the "Snow Miku Snow Sculpture" at the Sapporo Snow Festival and the main event at Wing Bay Otaru.

This year, Domingo has created a Sapporo & Otaru sightseeing map together with Snow Miku's pet character, "Rabbit Yukine"! This map introduces not only the various events related to "SNOW MIKU 2024," "Snow Miku," and "Hatsune Miku," but also numerous tourist spots in Sapporo and Otaru. The Sapporo TV Tower is a landmark standing in Odori Park 1-chome in central Sapporo. From its observation deck about 90 meters above ground, you can get a panoramic view of events held in Odori Park, like the Sapporo Snow Festival, and the changing scenery of each season. The observation deck also has a souvenir shop, and there's a food court in the basement. The tower's brilliant illumination at night is a must-see.

One of Sapporo's most iconic tourist spots. While its famous exterior is a popular photo spot, the interior houses a wealth of valuable documents and photographs. There's even a spot to take a photo with Dr. Clark and a souvenir shop, making a tour inside highly recommended. After sunset, the clock tower is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical sight when covered in snow.

Opened in July 2023 in central Sapporo, this urban aquarium can also be enjoyed at night. In addition to exhibits of penguins and jellyfish, it's packed with attractions like digital art on a large screen that makes you feel like you're in the ocean, a mini botanical garden with thriving tropical plants, and a zone where you can see behind the scenes of the aquarium. Besides the permanent exhibits, various special exhibitions and events are also held.

When you think of Sapporo's classic food, ramen comes to mind, and this is the Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho (Original Sapporo Ramen Alley). Inside, 17 unique ramen shops are lined up. It's perfect for lunch or dinner, and since it's open late, many people stop by for a final bowl after a night out. You can enjoy everything from nostalgic, old-fashioned miso ramen to unique creations from each shop.

A popular tourist spot in Otaru. There are many ways to enjoy it, from a leisurely walk along the promenade to taking a cruise to see the historic buildings lining the canal. After sunset, the gas lamps are lit and the warehouses are illuminated, creating a romantic atmosphere different from the daytime.

One of the must-visit spots for Otaru tourism, offering tourist information and souvenirs. Inside the brick building, you'll find a souvenir shop with Otaru's specialty products and agricultural goods, as well as souvenirs from nearby areas and across Hokkaido, and an International Information Center with tourist brochures for Otaru and its surroundings. Located along the Otaru Canal, it's perfect for a break or souvenir shopping after sightseeing. As it is scheduled to close on March 31, 2024, it's a place you'll want to visit to make some lasting memories.

Otaru Art Base is an area where you can enjoy art and culture, consisting of five buildings across the Otaru Canal. The Former Naniwa Warehouse houses the Western Art Museum, the Former Hokkaido Takushoku Bank Otaru Branch houses the Nitori Museum of Art, the Former Takahashi Warehouse and Former Arata Shokai house the Stained Glass Museum, and the Former Mitsui Bank Otaru Branch each display numerous artworks and crafts that colored their era. The historic exteriors are also recommended photo spots.

Built in 1906, the Taisho Glass Palace Main Store exhibits and sells handmade glass made in the city, with a focus on Japanese-style glassware. In addition to the beautiful glass products, the historic exterior is also noteworthy. At the adjacent Taisho Glass Tonbodama-kan, you can buy glass accessories and also experience making your own original tonbodama (glass beads) and other glass products.

A food stall village where all of Otaru's delicious flavors gather. From Hokkaido's classic Genghis Khan to ramen, sushi, and izakayas, the food stall style lets you enjoy what you want, when you want. The shops are easy to visit not only in groups but also alone, so you can drop by casually while sightseeing or when you want one more drink.

This is the place to learn about Otaru's history and nature. About 20,000 items from the museum's collection are on display. In the first exhibition room, you can see the history of Kitamae-bune ships, herring fishing, and the town's changes through old photos and maps. The second exhibition room displays natural history materials of flora and fauna. It's a spot where you can learn about Otaru's history while enjoying the atmosphere of the city-designated historic building, the "Former Otaru Warehouse."

JR Otaru Station is popular as a photo spot for its retro appearance. The platforms are decorated with lamps, and on the "Yujiro Home" (Platform 4), named in honor of Yujiro Ishihara, there is a panel of the famous actor. Inside the station, you'll find the station market "Tarche," which carries products from Otaru and 20 nearby municipalities, a standing sushi counter by Isezushi, and Otaru Naruto-ya, famous for Otaru's specialty "Wakadori Hanmi-age" (half-fried young chicken).

Sushi is said to be the gourmet highlight of Otaru, and the city is dotted with numerous sushi restaurants. The area that symbolizes this sushi town is "Otaru Sushi Street." Shops of various sizes line the street, where chefs from all over the country prepare their prized sushi. You can order a set course, or ask for the seasonal specials or the chef's recommendation. You can savor each shop's specialty and the freshest ingredients.
