Doma Kobo (Okito-cho mountain village cultural resources preservation and transmission facility)
A place to connect culture, technology, information and people
The "Doma" in Doma Kobo was named by the late industrial designer Yoshio Akioka to emphasize the function of the earthen floor, which was found in every farmhouse, and to promote interaction. His desire was to enhance the local culture by having everyone in the community bring their home tastes, work skills, and information to share time and space, and to provide a place to connect people with culture, technology, and information. It also serves as a storage base for the "Japanese Handicraft Tools: The Akioka Collection," which consists of 18,000 items collected by Mr. Akioka, including hand tools, daily utensils, books, and video materials. The museum also serves as a storage base for the "Japanese Handicraft Tools - The Akioka Collection" from 18,000 items.
