SPOT
Sapporo City Clock Tower
"Sapporo City Clock Tower" Its official name is "Former Sapporo Agricultural College Drill Hall". As a facility of Sapporo Agricultural College, which is the predecessor of Hokkaido University, it was constructed in Meiji 11 (1878) based on the concept of Dr. Clark, who was the first principal. This building, which has been active up until now as an office of educational organizations, a military facility, and in the Showa era as a municipal library, was designated as a National Important Cultural Property in June, Showa 45 (1970). While undergoing several restoration works, it is currently continuing to be loved as a famous spot representing Sapporo City, and as a clock tower telling time to the citizens.
In the place immediately after entering inside the building, there is a shop perfect for souvenirs, such as Sapporo's famous confectionery, candies with the clock tower designed on the can, and butter candies with Dr. Clark printed on them. Also, when the sun sets, the clock tower is lit up, and you will probably be able to see its magnificent appearance. In winter, the snow covering the clock tower increases its sparkle even more with the light-up.
