The JR Tower, a Sapporo complex with shopping malls, restaurants, hotels and other facilities, is directly connected to Sapporo Station. To the north, the horizon beyond the Ishikari Bay New Port; to the west, Hokkaido University and Mt. Teine; and to the south, the gorgeous nightscape of central Sapporo, which is laid out in a grid pattern, and the Sapporo Dome can be seen. To the east, the Ishikari River stretches to the sea and the Nopporo primeval forest can be seen. Artworks are scattered throughout the observation deck, which can be walked around in a circle, creating a relaxing atmosphere.
