SPOT
Hanasaki Lighthouse Car Stone
Overview
Cape Hanasaki offers a panoramic view of Hanasaki Port, which boasts one of the largest catches of fish in Japan.
The Hanasaki Lighthouse stands there.
Just below the Hanasaki Lighthouse is Kurumaishi, an oddly shaped basalt rock with a radial jointed structure that reminds one of a wheel.
The size of the rock, which is 6 meters in diameter, is rare in the world, and it is designated as a national natural monument.
Nearby, there are numerous Kuruma-ishi, ranging in size from 1 to 3 meters in diameter, which remind us of the drama of the earth.
