Numerous monuments make the natural scenery of Okushiri, surrounded by the ocean, even more impressive. Various works of art, including monuments and sculptures by artists, are scattered throughout the island, giving the entire island the appearance of an outdoor museum. The beautiful forms of the monuments stand out clearly against the horizon, creating a unique landscape.
Each of the sculptures is a tribute to nature or a memorial to the people of the island.
In particular, the sculptures at Cape Hokuai were created by world-renowned sculptor Masayuki Nagare.
