Okushiri Island, which is abundantly flooded with water thanks to its deep forests, has a number of waterfalls and rivers. The Hoyaishi River Falls, which is also used for hydroelectric power generation, is a place where visitors can experience coolness even in mid-summer. During the harsh winter months, the waterfalls are indeed frozen over, beautifully illustrating the harshness of nature.
