■ Visiting Misato Cave
Misato Cave, every year, designates July 1st to October 31st as its open period, and performs maintenance of the path, such as grass cutting. From winter to spring, there is a lot of snow accumulation on the path along the way, making passage difficult.
■ Directions to Misato Cave
Misato Cave is located approximately 5.5km from the forest road entrance. Proceed along the forest road, and at the fork in the road located at this signboard, please enter the downhill slope on the right side. Because vehicles cannot enter from the fork in the road, please proceed on foot. When you descend the slope, there is a wooden bridge. When you cross the bridge, a steep slope continues until the cave. Because the path is narrow and there are also slippery places, please walk carefully.
■ Misato Cave Archaeological Site
It is known that Misato Cave was used by people in ancient times as a camping place. Various artifacts from various eras have been discovered through excavation surveys, and it is thought that some artifacts date back to the Late Paleolithic Period, in addition to the Ainu Cultural Period and Jomon Period.
