Population:3,500
Toyoura Town, with a population of about 3,500, is located at the western edge of the Donan Iburi region, enjoying a relatively mild climate despite being in cool Hokkaido. Serving as a transportation hub, it is intersected by the JR Muroran Main Line, National Route 37, and the Hokkaido Expressway. It offers great accessibility, being a 2-hour drive from Sapporo, 1 hour from Muroran, and 2.5 hours from Hakodate, which has a Hokkaido Shinkansen station.
Facing the calm Uchiura Bay (Funka Bay) to the south and backed by deep green forests, the town is blessed with a beautiful natural environment woven by the sea and mountains. On the steep coastal cliffs lies Koboro Station, renowned among railway fans as "Japan's most secluded station," attracting visitors from all over the country to its remote location.
This rich nature also nurtures superb local specialties. The town's three major delicacies are thick "scallops" nourished by Funka Bay, sweet "strawberries" grown in the cool climate, and "Toyoura SPF Pork," a premium brand raised under strict hygiene controls. Why not spend a special, healing time in Toyoura, a town overflowing with spectacular nature and delicious food?
