Roadside Station Toyoura
Toyoura Town is famous for strawberries, scallops, and pork. You can taste all three at "Michi no Eki Toyoura," a roadside station where delicious foodstuffs of the town are gathered.
In early spring, the direct sales area is filled with strawberries, a local specialty, and the museum is filled with the sweet aroma of strawberries. Even if you miss the strawberry season, you can enjoy Toyoura strawberries all year round with strawberry soft serve ice cream at the take-out corner.
Winter is the season for scallops. The "live scallops" sold in the aquarium at the direct sales counter are so popular that they are sold out in the morning.
The museum also has a corner commemorating Daisuke Naito, a former WBC flyweight world champion from Toyoura Town, and the "scallop fry class" (three skewers of fried scallops), named after Naito, is very popular.
