Indian Water Wheel Park

The Indian Water Wheel is a facility used to catch salmon that migrate upstream in the Nukibetsu River, and visitors can observe the anadromous fish through a glass window right in front of them. After completing their journey across the wide ocean, the salmon caught in the fall are transported to a hatchery where they are collected, hatched, and released as fry. The area around the water wheel has been developed into a park with this water wheel as its symbol.
The peak of the salmon run is in October. In winter, white-tailed and Steller's sea eagles can be seen.
