A town of sea urchin, with a Shakotan Blue coast lined by unique rocks.

Population:1,700
Located in the northwestern part of the Shakotan Peninsula, the area boasts spectacular views of the clear blue sea, known as "Shakotan Blue," and a coastline dotted with unique rock formations. The scenery from the three major capes—Cape Kamui, Cape Shakotan, and Cape Ogon—is particularly captivating for many visitors. You can enjoy a casual stroll along the well-maintained walking trails or a hike while feeling the sea breeze.
Many people visit to taste the sea urchin, which is in season from June to August. Additionally, "Hamanabe," a fisherman's hot pot made with fish caught in the harsh winter, is quietly gaining popularity.
