Mysterious ice appears only in Kamishihoro Town! Let's go and look for "mushroom ice" that grows in a myriad of shapes!
Mushroom ice" is a unique natural phenomenon found in Lake Nukabira, a dammed lake. Every winter around February, the water level drops to the bottom of the lake due to hydroelectric power generation, and the frozen lake surface remains on top of the stumps at the bottom of the lake. This is called "mushroom ice" because it looks like a mushroom. .
On this tour, you will walk about 1 km on the lake with snowshoes. On the way, you will also visit the Sanosawa Bridge. The tour will take you to a place on Lake Nukabira where the ice mushrooms are in disarray, which is different from the route across the Tausubetsu Bridge.
If you are lucky, you may even be able to see the "ice bubble" that is so popular today. Why don't you go see the only mysterious scenery in Japan where nature and man-made objects are interwoven?
